God's Work in Brazil

Dearest Friends:

Busy, busy, busy we are always busy!  It seems the last two months have
been nonstop.  We have worked long hours in building programs and
getting ready for our regional convention.  But it was well worth it.
This year we enjoyed the biggest and most fruitful convention since we
have been in the northeast.  We had so many people on Saturday night we
used all our Sunday school benches, rented chairs and still had people
standing.  Even our balcony was full.

We filled our 8 dorms, evangelist quarters, our home, Michael´s home,
Ednei´s home and several of our people´s homes with people.  We were
able to offer everyone somewhere to sleep and a place to take a bath.
Everyone ate a nice lunch every day and we had soup every evening.
We had people from the states of Para, Ceara, Maranhao, Bahia, Sao
Paulo and Pastor Hugo representing Paraguay plus people from many
different cities and villages from our state of Alagoas.

The choirs did such a good job singing and worshipping the Lord.  We
have several choirs so we were blessed to see them all working for the
Lord.

We were blessed to have Rev. Keith Morris and Brother Birmingham as our
special speakers along with many of our Brazilian pastors.  Scores of
people received the Holy Ghost and 10 were baptized.  Our son Brother
Raul Jr blessed us along with Brother Thompson.

The life changing gospel makes a lasting difference in the life of
people.  To watch them come from total darkness into this marvelous
light is joy beyond words.

The level of poverty that we face every day is unbelievable. Often I am
speechless and in tears as I watch our people struggle.  I still
grapple with why we will always have the poor among us. I force my
heart to take solace in the mansion that awaits the least of these in
heaven. It heightens the urgency to tell the good news of the gospel
and spread the hope it provides to masses of suffering people from
poverty.

If you are a praying person, I urge you to consider lifting up our
needs in your prayer. You can help us make a difference in the lives of
thousands of souls.

Prayer is such a vital part of being a missionary and it is so
important to have other people praying for us and the work here. “For
we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities,
against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world,
against spiritual wickedness in high places.”  Eph. 6:12

Maybe you enjoy travel and would like to come and spend a week or two
on our ministry field. This would be a huge blessing to us and also a
great blessing for our people.

Please remember our children (Brother Arlei and Sister Gilene) as they
are returning back to jungle land from the convention.  We call that
area, the heart of darkness…but the greater the darkness the brighter
the light shines.  They are faith missionaries and depend on people
hearing from the Lord for their needs to be met.  We were able to send
6 new Bibles with them and several New Testaments.  Not only do they
face simply a multitude of tropical diseases to avoid, the strangeness
of the culture compared to our area, the deep  poverty, murders,
banditry. With impending Indian conflicts lurking and intense spiritual
battles - there is revival there - but also satanic opposition.
Witchcraft, Catholicism and false cults are just as actively competing
for souls as is the true church.

Our well never produced enough water.  Our neighbor said he would sell
us a piece of land adjoining ours that has water for 5000 dollars.
That would give them a little more land for planting rice for survival
and water to water it.  I told them I would mention this need.  They
are trying to become self supporting but at the present they need our
help very much.

Our deepest gratitude goes out to all you precious homeland supporters
who give generously so that we may continue working daily.

“Pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be
honored.” 2 Thessalonians 3:1

Missionary Sylvia Suhr
A ministry of the Eagles Nest Christian Centre in Yass, NSW,
Australia.

Missions, People, all races and colours. Darlene Zschech -
Change Your World
.. Kenya sow or go is a ministry of the Eagles Nest Christian
Centre in Yass, NSW,
 Australia.

My name is Sylvia Suhr, a mother to four and grandmother
to six.
I am 63 years. Born in the UK and immigrated to Australia in
1968. I was born
again in 1982 in Melbourne Australia and have been on the
God journey ever
since then. My mission is to preach the gospel and carry the
love of God to Africa
and Asia.
I started my overseas missions in 1997 when I went to the
Philippines with
a team from our church with Pastor David Croker. We went
to Butuan in
Mindinao where we shared our testimonies and preached
the gospel.
Thousands of people had the opportunity to have their lives
and circumstances
changed by the power of God. Many miracles were recorded.
..blind eyes
were opened...the lame walked and many were set free from
the bondage
of satan.
My next mission was to Kenya with a team from another
church. God
said to me, "Many of my children in Africa are dying with
no arms to
hold them" Even though I didn't have the money to go on
this mission
I said 'yes' to God and He showed me to sell all that I had
and just go!
When I met up with the team in Sydney I asked them if it
 would be ok for
me to stay on in Kenya after the team had left and they
agreed. On this
mission we taught in the bible school, preached at crusades,
shared our
testimonies and saw many lives changed by the power of
 God. After the
team left I continued to teach in the schools and churches
and saw many
things that changed my life forever. I remember seeing a
child of two years
whose parents had died from HIV/AIDS he looked like a
 6 month old
baby as I carried him out of the back of a hut where he was
dying from
malnutrition and dehydration. Many people leave the children
to die when
the parents have died with HIV/AIDS because of the stigma
attached.
I came home after 4 months but I was never to be the same
again. In 2003
I again set off on another adventure, this time back to England
to visit my
family and work with the aged and disabled for 9 months. It
was good to
see my family again and God was able to restore relationships
with members
of my family. From England I went back to Kenya.
This time to a place called Mbita, a little fishing village by the
shores of
Lake Victoria. I lived amongst the people of Mbita for almost
2 years and
got to know a lot of their language and customs. My memories
 of Mbita are
very precious as thousands of people came to know Jesus during
the time
I was there and took teams out to the villages to preach the
gospel. I returned
home and stayed with my daughter for some time but my heart
was breaking
for the lost in third world countries.
I was invited to visit a pastor and work alongside him at
Smokey Mountain
in Manila in the Philippines and so again I packed my bags
and off I went.
This was also a time of fruitfulness as any of the people there
were open to
the gospel message and turned to Jesus. We were able to help
distribute
nutrition to many of the children and saw many lives changed
there too.
In October of 2007 I again set flight to Africa. I went to Malawi
 to visit Bishop
Beston Makawa in Blantyre. I was very warmly met at the airport
 by Beston
and the team. I love Malawi and the people are so humble and
gentle. The
team had such a beautiful sense of unity and one-ness and we
were able to
visit many of the remote villages and preach the gospel and see
 the lealing
power of God in action as we layed hands on the sick.
From Malawi I flew to Kenya where I was met at the airport by
 some very
friendly people with a lovely bunch of flowers. Michael Wafula
is a special
man who has 21 children, most of these are not his own but
children he has
adopted. The house he used to live in has now become a
school for orphans
in Kitale and he rents a house for himself, his wife and some
of the younger
children. I was able to speak at a youth conference there about
 the love of
God and His power to change lives and see people set free.
From Kitale I travelled to Homa Bay where I met with a friend
from Mbita
who I was to work alongside for the next few months. Ben Ouko
 was the
YWAM base leader when I was in Mbita and he had invited
me to work
alongside him in ministry. The main highlight for us was when
 we visited
a school called Got Kabok near to Homa Bay. When we saw
 the children
in this school we wept and all we could do was pray and ask
God to change
their situation. The many orphans were at school each day with
 no breakfast,
no lunch and maybe some maize porridge in the evening. We
prayed for them
and saw God do a miracle. We went back to the school with
some bags of
maize and armed with the gospel we were privilaged to preach
 the gospel to
most of the families in the area where many accepted Jesus .
We also gave
each family 2 tins of maize which was not much but it was a
beginning. Peaple
at my home church did some fund raising and we were able
 to buy food so
that now Ben is able to provide a meal each day for each of
the children in
the school. This is a project that needs much prayer as this
area is very much
affected by the HIV/AIDS situation. During the time I was in
 Kenya the elections
were held and most of the world knows what happened after
the elections....
many thousands of lives were affected by the violence and
 bloodshed.
People were angry because the voting was said to be rigged
and the
country was in a panic situation. I managed to get home in late
 January and
have been home for 3 months now. It has been good to spend
time with my
family and friends but now it is time to go back and continue to
see lives
changed by the love and power of God as I return to Africa on
the 6th of May.

…to look after orphans… James 1:27

HISTORY OF ORPHANAGE HOME:

PASTOR K.VIJAYA RAJU: In my childhood I was inspired by my Lord to do his will.
After training I realized that God gave me a great burden for Evangelism and planting
churches and an orphanage. At first I started with a church ministry in the year 1995
and then I was inspired by my Lord to start an orphanage in 1996 with 6 children
in a small shed.

Since then I am doing this work from the offerings of my church. Many times I fail
to provide sufficient food for the children. God is helping in time of needs to
provide their needs. Gradually the number of children has been growing up to 38.

Now the times in India are very hard, everything is very costly and the costs will
sky-rocket. I am going through much trouble trying to provide for their needs.
Please pray and take immediate action and send your lovely and sacrificial gifts
to this home.
